Crofters Cottage is a delightful 100-year old cottage that oozes charm. With whitewashed stone walls, beamed ceilings, latch doors and a woodburner in a lovely stone fireplace, it makes a most welcoming and cosy holiday hideaway. There are also bay windows and ceilings in the property which provide spectacular views. With both coastal and mountain views, it is nestled at the base of the Trotternish Ridge within a traditional crofting township with cattle and sheep happily grazing along the way. This is a very popular walking area on the island and the route runs from The Storr through the striking Quiraing at Staffin and onto Flodigarry. Staffin Bay beach is just a short stroll from the cottage with a combination of sand and pebbles, and has fabulous views over Staffin Island onto Gairloch and the Torridon Mountains. There is a small slipway where you can launch kayaks or a small boat. An abundance of wildlife can be seen in the area including eagles, fulmars, kestrels, otters, deer and so much more. The Staffin Museum is a must as it contains an excellent collection of local geological and fossil specimens. Other attractions include many historic sites, castles, brochs, standing stones, gardens and a whisky distillery, or take a boat trip, go pony trekking and kayaking, or just be amazed at the dramatic scenery and seascapes. Beach 200 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
