Bookend Cottage sits in the small, historical village of Cromford and was once one of the famous Arkwright Mill supervisor’s cottages. Steeped in history this Grade II listed, traditional stone built, end of row cottage offers all the modern day comforts but has been carefully and thoughtfully renovated to keep its original features. This well presented character cottage has three floors and, being the old supervisor’s cottages is larger than most of its type. The beautiful bathroom offers a walk in double shower or you may choose to soak in the freestanding claw foot bath. Down in the living area there is a traditional wood burner to curl up by and read a good book, well it is Bookend Cottage! There is a courtyard to the rear of the property and a delightful garden.

Cromford is a small village with a lot of historical interest, being the site of the first successful water powered cotton mill in the country. The village grew up around the mill and the majority of the houses were built by the mill owner, Richard Arkwright (founder of the English Sewing Cotton Company). Today the village is part of the Valley Mills World Heritage Site and offers good, local amenities with easy access to the nearby towns.

Cromford lies just one mile from the vibrant spa town of Matlock Bath and three miles from Matlock. All offering a selection of quality pubs, shops and cafes, as well as Arkwright’s Cromford Mill and canal, a World Heritage Site.

The area boasts a plethora of attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom, the nearby Peak District Mining Museum and splendid Chatsworth House. Visitors can take a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car and take in the views in style, whilst the more active are catered for with plentiful walking around the Derwent Valley and the White Peak. Cycling opportunities include at Carsington Water and the High Peak, Monsal and Tissington Cycle Trails.
