Located in the small village of Cairnryan, this spacious, detached holiday property is ideally located to explore south west Scotland. Dumfries and Galloway boast rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream and are surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Machars Peninsula and the Galloway Hills. From the challenging uplands of the Galloway Hills to gentle seaside trails, rolling moors and cliff-top walks, the Southern Upland Way passing close by presents the ideal focus from which to enjoy the many shorter walks. The dramatic scenery is home to a rich company of flora and fauna, with many unusual species including pine martens, golden eagle, ospreys, red deer and red squirrels. The property is situated on the Ayrshire Coastal Path, Scotland’s long distance walking route, 100 miles along one of the finest panoramic coastlines of the British Isles. The coastline is crowned with a superb backdrop of the ever-changing profile of Ailsa Craig and the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde. The area is steeped in history and teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, deer, otters and seals and is a haven for birdwatchers on the moors and estuary. Inland there are gardens and castles to visit, the Galloway Forest Park, racing at Ayr and a choice of golf courses. Culzean Castle together with its surrounding country park is Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction. Castle Kennedy and Glenwhan are just two of the wonderful west coast gardens nearby.
