This lovingly converted, detached former stable offers warm, spacious, modern holiday accommodation, with decorations provided at Christmas. It is set in the village of Scalby with tea rooms, shops, and two village pubs. Scalby Beck runs adjacent to the village and provides a pleasant backdrop for country walks, whilst the Scarborough to Whitby old disused railway line is 2 minutes for walkers and cyclists.
A 5-minute drive away is Scarborough’s North Bay with its colourful seafront. There are two long stretches of award-winning beaches overlooked by a 12th-century castle. North Bay has a working harbour with a small fishing fleet and South Bay offers boat trips around the bay, restaurants, bars and traditional seaside stalls. There is also a Sea Life Marine Sanctuary as well as Victorian Funicular Railway to enjoy. The town boasts a wonderful Spa Theatre complex, home to the UK’s last seaside orchestra, which offers a programme of music, theatre, ballet and comedy, and Peasholm Park is a popular venue for with its boating and activities for children. This oriental themed park with mini waterfalls, wooden bridges crossing trickling streams and an abundance of wildlife also has a putting green, model naval warfare, cafe and champion tree trail.
Dalby Forest is about 20 minutes by car with cycle trails and Go Ape with its high wires and tree top adventure. The ancient sea port of Whitby, where Captain Cook learned his trade, is a short drive away and is home to an abbey, colourful harbour and marina. The cathedral city of York offers a memorable day out with its minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, quaint cobbled streets and Railway Museum. There are tennis courts a short walk away. Shops and pubs ¼ mile.
