Coastal location
Set in the seaside village of Sidestrand just 1 mile from Overstrand and the beach, and 3 miles from Cromer and Mundesley this detatched lodge-style holiday property is the perfect base from which to explore North Norfolk. The Lodge used to be the grand gate house for Sidestrand Hall in the early 1900s and as such is situated at the entrance of a long drive which leads down to the Hall through the trees. On the other side of The Lodge sits the lovely old church, which used to be located a third of a mile out to sea, but was rebuilt in 1881 in its present location to prevent it from falling in to the sea when the eroding coastline started to threaten. As time went on the Hall was sold off to become a speacialist school, which it remains as today, and The Lodge became a private home only sharing the entrance off the road with the school. Enjoy days out at Cromer with its beautiful beach, Amazona Zoo and Karttrak Cromer where you can be Lewis Hamilton (or Jenson Button) for the day. Also nearby are the Norfolk Broads and Norwich with its numerous shops, restaurants and museums. Caister is another great, long, Norfolk beach, popular with locals and holidaymakers and the perfect place for enjoying a hot summer's day or brisk winter walk. From the beach, you can see the wind turbines out to sea.
Perfect for the bucket and spade brigade, in 2004 this long sandy beach was (scientifically) judged to come third in the top five beaches for building sand castles.
