Dating back to the 1600’s, The Innkeep was originally part of the village of Watlington’s coaching inn. There are no records to show what it was originally named but it became the Queen’s Head in tribute to Queen Anne in the early 1700s. The property remained a coaching inn until 1962, when it sadly became derelict. It was bought in 1967 by the family that still own it today and they have lovingly brought it up to date while maintaining many of its original features, including an original bread oven next to the fireplace which provides an attractive, decorative feature. Now a wing of the owners’ home, the property is beautifully decorated and furnished, and the love that the family has for the property can be clearly seen, as they have provided a wonderful holiday base from which discerning guests can explore all that the area has to offer. At just half an hour away from the stunning Norfolk Coast, there are beaches galore to be enjoyed and discovered. Snettisham, Heacham and Hunstanton beaches are all close by and offer glorious sandy vistas and traditional seaside attractions. The Sandringham Estate is close too, and is a must for culture vultures. Just 7 miles away lies the historic old town of King’s Lynn. The hanseatic town was one of England’s most important ports from as early as the 12th century and this maritime past is still very much in evidence today. Fine old merchants’ houses stretch down to the river between cobbled lanes and the elegant Custom House overlooks the harbour. Ely, with one of England’s most historic cathedrals, dating back to the 12th century, is a bustling market town and is well worth a visit. And a little further afield but still within easy reach, lies the magnificent university city of Cambridge, which is steeped in history and offers museums, guided walks, great shopping and punting on the River Cam. Bird watchers will be spoilt for choice, as will walkers and cyclists. Whatever you decide to do one thing is for sure, you will fall in love with The Innkeep just as its owners did when they first saw it, and just as they have done ever since. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Beamed living room with dining area, TV and tiled floor. Kitchen. Bathroom with spa bath, separate shower cubicle and toilet. Narrow stairs to first floor: Two double bedrooms; each with sloping ceilings.
