An exceptional cottage in an exceptional location! Furnished and equipped to the highest standard, the Boathouse is set at the water’s edge, 5 miles from the open sea, commanding splendid views from all the principal rooms over the River Dart and the kaleidoscope of colourful craft bobbing at their moorings. This is the perfect spot for a truly relaxing holiday – a large balcony leading off the master bedroom offers plenty of space, and steps lead from here to a secluded 40-ft patio bordered by unspoilt woodlands and enjoying river views. With its built-in, native stone barbecue, this is the ideal place to dine out-of-doors on languid summer evenings.
The Boathouse’s position along the quayside at Stoke Gabriel is a paradise for boating enthusiasts. Nestled on an estuary of the River Dart, this charming village is not only noted for its sailing – but also boasts a choice of traditional inns and a beautiful Norman church. Medieval Totnes is just minutes away by car, whilst a few miles further lies Dartmouth with its famous steam railway (summer only), cruises and boat hire on the River Dart. The seaside resort of Torquay is a 20-minute drive, offering fine sandy beaches, coves, cliff walks, an interesting harbour, marina, excellent leisure facilities and children’s amusements.
A spectacular flair and attention to detail are features of the conversion of this old stone boathouse. Furnished to the highest standards throughout with an intriguing blend of both antique and contemporary pieces, it also has its own floodlit private garden. Shops ¼ mile.
