This detached holiday cottage is adjacent to the owner’s home in a spectacular private location, 300ft above the water. It boasts unrivalled and uninterrupted southerly views over the Solway Firth from east to west with Cumbrian mountains looming in the south east, and the Isle of Man in the south west across the Irish Sea. There is access to the secluded shoreline where there are huge smugglers’ caves, rumoured still to be in use! Kirkcudbright, 4 miles, known as the ‘Artists’ Town’, hosts a wealth of coffee shops and art galleries, as well as the impressive ruins of Maclellan’s Castle. There are many festivals throughout the year including Scottish nights, classic car rallies, historic walks, a medieval fayre, a jazz festival and a spectacular tattoo. Close to the Galloway Hills and on the estuary of the River Dee. Local outdoor pursuits include fishing, horse riding in Galloway Forest Park, cycling and golf. Threave Garden and Estate (National Trust for Scotland) is a popular visitors attraction. With Dumfries approximately 25 miles east and Castle Douglas just 8 miles away, this makes a wonderful base from which to tour South West Scotland. Beach ¾ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
