Enjoying it’s own private deck directly on the riverside, this terraced house is the perfect holiday getaway for those seeking great views and relaxing times. Keen fishermen with a rod licence can literally step down from the deck on to the boardwalk and fish in the river, which contains many species of fish including brown trout and sea trout. A bridal path runs along the fence, under the willow trees opposite the front door, which offers beautiful, unspoilt walks for miles along the river’s edge. The area is famous for it’s wildlife and, depending on the time of year, you will see an abundance of butterflies, dragonflies, birds and animals. It’s also known for it’s “big skies” and with very little light pollution, you will be able to sit on your deck and star gaze. If you can tear yourself away, there are lots of places to explore nearby with the romantic moated manor house, Oxborough Hall and Gooderston Water Gardens, a unique attraction for all garden lovers, naturalists, artists and photographers close by. Thetford Forest offers walks, cycling and bike hire, and often hosts open air concerts in the summer months. Lakenheath airbase offers a viewing platform for keen plane spotters, and RSPB Lakenham Fen offers great bird watching opportunities. Of course, the famous Norfolk Coast is also within reach, and for a glorious beach and all the fun of the fair, you can head to Hunstanton and enjoy fish and chips as you look at the seashore, which really does seem to go on forever. Equally accessible for days out are the Hanseatic town of Kings Lynn, which was one of England’s most important ports from as early as the 12th century and offers an amazing array of historic buildings and attractions in its old quarter, Ely with it’s stunning cathedral and Bury St Edmunds, an important market town with a fascinating history and wonderful Christmas market. For a royal day out, the Sandringham Estate shouldn’t be missed. Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen, and has been the private home for four generations of British monarchs since 1862. The estate is open to visitors when the royals are not in residence. Shop and restaurant ½ mile, pub 1 mile.
