This wonderful period, detached Georgian house was originally built for the factor of the Duke of Gordon who owned the Glenlivet Estate, an area of heather-covered hills, clear rivers and some of the finest scenery in the Grampian Highlands. Partially built from the stones of the ruined Drumin Castle, which stands in the grounds of the house, it is very stylishly furnished with lots of original pieces. A great property for family and friends to gather together for a memorable holiday in the stunning surroundings of the Cairngorms National Park. The attractive gardens surrounding the house back onto the walled garden of Drumin Castle, an impressive feature which is clearly seen from many rooms in the house. Enjoy the castle’s circular walk which overlooks the Rivers Avon and Livet. There is much to do in the area: fishing, pony trekking and walking; mountain biking at the Lecht and throughout the the Cairngorms, more sedate cycle trails on waymarked paths and quiet roads and, being right in the heart of the Whisky Trail, the famous Glenlivet distillery is a short distance from the house, with its visitor centre (seasonal). The village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands, is a short drive away with its shops, eating places and children’s adventure playground or, for a total contrast, the beaches of the Banffshire coastline are an hour’s drive away. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
