Located in 8 acres on the banks of the River Thames, Dinckley Court (ref NT9) and Dinckley Lodge (NSE) lie in one of the most picturesque areas of South Oxfordshire, within the small hamlet of Burcot-on-Thames, close to the towns of Oxford and Abingdon, with Dorchester-on-Thames less than a mile. Local attractions include a Salters Steamer Boat which can be caught from Oxford back to Days Lock and a walk taken back to the properties, or visit Nuneham Courtney’s arboretum - full of amazing trees, plants and beautiful peacocks. Restaurants within 10 miles for food lovers include Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, the famous Crazy Bear Thai restaurant, The Mole Inn at Marsh Baldon, and the Chequers pub within walking distance serving great British food. Dinckley Lodge is an exquisite boutique self-catering property, located within 8 acres of grounds of Dinckley Court directly overlooking the River Thames. Situated directly on the bank of the River Thames, with its own fenced garden with outstanding views across the river towards Wittenham Clumps. The Lodge has use of river frontage when booked in conjunction with Dinckley Court, but if let independently guests have use of their own private garden only, albeit with stunning views. Double doors open onto a decked terrace, with further outside tables and seating within the garden. Perfect for that early morning coffee or glass of wine whilst watching the sun set in the evening as the swans glide by. The main area of the lodge comprises an open plan living, dining and high gloss kitchen, with wooden flooring throughout. With Wi-fi, TV, DVD and iPod docking station, it is the perfect environment for a relaxing get-together, special occasion or just because... The property sleeps 6 guests, and offers a beautiful master bedroom with a 5ft bed which can convert to a twin, and two further double bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities and individual doors leading directly on to the terrace. Every room has a panoramic view of the Thames. On the first floor of the museum is "Grandma Flew Spitfires" that is an exhibit dedicated to Air Transport Auxiliary, it has probably the largest collection of ATA memorabilia and records around, the story is told through uniforms, photographs, letters, log books, local records, diaries and personal recollections. Maidenhead Heritage Centre is an astounding and intriguing place to visit, the staff are so friendly and helpful, there is so much to see and do and the exhibits are done in a way that they will appeal to both adults and children alike.
Dorney Court is a magnificent Tudor Manor House that has been in same family for more than 500 years. This impressive and noble house stands in beautiful landscaped gardens and looks out onto acres of established parkland and flocks of sheep grazing in the encircling meadows. The interior of the house is stunning with it's enchanting gabled roofs, wood panelling, impressive collection of fine oak furniture, paintings, family portraits and tapestries that adorn the walls, there is so much to see and observe. But be observant as there are lots of hidden gems like the 17th century priest hole or perhaps the balding spectre of Dorney Court's ghost. The house today still retains its charm and warmth and appears to have gone unchanged over the years.
