In an elevated position with wonderful views over the Caledonian Canal to the mountains beyond, this detached house makes an ideal holiday base for exploring the Highlands and the Western Isles. Fort William is the nearest town with an array of shops, bars and restaurants and the area is known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’. Outdoor activities include mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, fishing, horse-riding, golf and a variety of water sports. The magnificent scenery has been used as the backdrop for many well known films including Braveheart and Rob Roy, whilst the West Highland Steam Train (seasonal) passes the Glenfinnan Viaduct as depicted in one of the Harry Potter movies. Wildlife is in abundance and offers the chance to spot golden eagles, deer, otters, porpoises and dolphins. There are plenty of beautiful gardens and ruined castles to be visited and the area is famous for its rich historical legacy. For a more relaxed pace, watch the boats sail through the Caledonian Canal, take a trip up Aonoch Mor in a gondola or wander around a network of forest trails, the Great Glen Way, canal paths and shoreline, simply enjoying the natural beauty of this stunning location. Glencoe, Oban, Loch Ness, Inverness and the Isle of Skye are easily accessible. Shop and pub 31/2 miles.
