In a stunning setting with direct access to Loch Awe this spacious detached property is set in its own 21/2 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Acclaimed as one of Scotland’s most picturesque lochs, Loch Awe is surrounded by high mountains, and its calm waters are dotted with wooded islands, many with castles which recall the turbulent history of Argyll and its clans. The grounds are perfect for a peaceful and relaxed holiday and the external games room is ideal for guests with young families. There is good fishing and excellent walking can be enjoyed locally with many fine forest walks also suitable for cycling. May and June are a riot of colour with a variety of spectacular rhododendruns and there is much to interest the naturalist and bird-watcher. Argyllshire’s annual gathering takes place in August, featuring piping competitions and Highland games. The Oban Sea Life centre, Cruachan Hollow Mountain and Bonawe Iron Works can all be found nearby. This is a superb base for touring the Western Highlands, Oban is only 40 minutes by car, with a good choice of shops, restaurants and bars – as well as a cinema, sports centre, golf, tennis, sailing and ferries to the islands. Shop 7 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
